Kid’s trying new food’s and flavors

My kid’s eating habits.

I have 4 kids. Aria who is 9 months and tries anything we give her. Harper is 4 and she will try almost anything but may not like it afterwards. Then Gavin is 6 who is our picky eater and also does not eat a lot. Followed by Matthew who is 16 who use to love most foods but not so much anymore. For me I will try just about anything and have a great palate, but my kids are learning. When I came across Fresh Bellies I was so excited. Kid’s trying new food’s and flavor’s is especially important to me.

4 kids; two boys and two girls. Outside sitting on a blanket on the grass wearing pastel colors. They all eat fresh bellies snacks.

Fresh Bellies

Fresh Bellies is such a great way to introduce fruits and veggies along with herbs and spices at a young age. Even better they not only offer freeze dried fruits and veggies but also offer baby food with amazing food profiles. Their products are not only made with full organic ingredients they also have no preservatives or added sweetener’s. The great thing is the snack bags only use 3 Non-GMO ingredients and are freeze dried only. If you try the baby food out the lids come with a spoon to use making it convenient and healthy.

What did my Kid’s think?

We all headed to the park to play some ball and run around. This was the perfect time to bring the Fresh Bellies snacks to try out. After everyone stopped playing we all sat down to try them. My husband and I also tried them. We had 6 flavors to try:

  1. Apples and Cardamom
  2. Snap Peas and Cumin
  3. Roasted Peppers, Sunflower Oil and Sea Salt
  4. Mango and Basil
  5. Beets and Thyme
  6. Strawberries and Balsamic

As you can see they do not mix vegetable and fruit flavors so that kids learn to enjoy fruits AND vegetables on their own.

Orange, pink , red, purple, dark green, and light green bags of toddler snacks by fresh bellies in a purple box sitting on green grass.

We started with the strawberries and they were amazing. The combination of flavors was perfect. Everyone loved this one. I mean most people love strawberries, so I was not to worried about this. Then we moved on to the Mango. Now I am not a huge fan of mango’s, but they were better than the strawberries. All my kids like the Mango and Basil but my 16-year-old finished off the whole bag. Since we already started with fruits we moved onto the apples which was really good. I was not sure of these at first as the cardamom is strong, but everyone enjoyed them. My daughter and I are actually eating a new bag of them now while I am typing.

Next the veggies. Started with the roast peppers mainly because they were bright, and kids love bright colored foods. Well it was a hit. The kids really like these ones. The pepper is flavorful and even has little roast marks on them. Next up was the beets and this was the only one most of us disliked. Beets are an acquired taste. One of my friends has a foster son who LOVED the beets. Do not skip over them it may have just been my kids so let you kids try them out. I give my kids credit because they tried them and that is all I ask is to try everything. Then last but not least the snap peas. The kids loved them. They tasted just like fresh snap peas minus the crunch. Warning, the peas in the middle may be a little crunchy. They are definitely good.

Fresh Bellies were a success

So out of all the flavors we enjoyed most of them. They did not last till the next day because they were so good. The freeze-dried snacks we tried are 12 months and up. My daughter sucked on the apple snack and loved them, but I would wait till 12 months. I would try the baby foods for under 12 months. They had great combinations. Unfortunately, my baby girl does no eat baby food, so we did not try them. I am excited to have tried these with my kids. The kids loved them, and they tried new veggies which is a huge thing for us, especially Gavin. It is so important to introduce vegetables and fruits separate to your kid’s so that they learn to enjoy them.

Before I had my kids try these I checked them out. I always love seeing new food products for kids. I quickly learned that they are the first ever veggie forward all-natural toddler snack and baby food. Since getting kids to eat vegetables is a struggle for many parents I really was pleased that something like this was finally being made. Even more so adding herbs and spices. The earlier kids try different foods and spices the more they will enjoy them growing up. These little kids have brand new palates and us as parents have to introduce all the healthy foods and flavors as soon as we can. Click the link below if you want to check them out and maybe buy some.

No Bake Cookies

Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies

We are back again with our Sunday sweets. Today I made something that did not need to be cooked. Our home is small, so we had already been using the oven for a Cheesy Potato Breakfast Casserole and the house was a bit too warm. For that reason, we made Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies and let just say they are delicious.

The ingredients needed.

As always I tell you what ingredients are needed first:

  1. One stick of butter
  2. Sugar (2 cups)
  3. Quick Oats (3 cups)
  4. Peanut butter (1 cup)
  5. Cocoa (1/4 cup)
  6. Milk (1/2 cup)
  7. Vanilla extract (2 tsp)
a black chalk board with blue writing showing all ingredient needed for a sunday sweets recipe with quick oats cocoa powder butter vanilla peanut butter and sugar all on a grey counter top.

You will also need a saucepan, a large mixing bowl, spoon, measuring cups/spoons, cookie sheet, whisk, and some wax paper. If you have all of this then you are ready to go.

How to make them.

We always have our kids help they are 4 years old and up except with the stove part unless it is our teenager. So first off they pour the oats into the large mixing bowl. Then in the sauce pan we put in the butter and melt it. After we melted those we added the sugar, milk, and cocoa all on medium heat. This is then all to be whisked together and brought to a boil for one minute. My husband did the part above and I helped the kids get the peanut butter and vanilla extract measured out. As soon as the minute is up in the sauce pan these ingredients need to be added and everything needs to be mixed together in the saucepan.

Next we poured the saucepan mixture into the bowl of oats. My kids each took turns mixing that together till everything was fully mixed. Then the kids used a tablespoon to scoop the mixture out in separated spots onto the wax paper which covers the cookie sheet. When this was all done the worst part was waiting for them to cool. The whole house smelled like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. So, we ate our Cheesy Potato Breakfast Casserole while we waited. If you click the button below it will link you to the Casserole recipe which was amazing. Try adding Chorizo instead of sausage for a little kick.

Everyone finished their food and the cookies were ready. They did not disappoint at all. This Sunday sweets recipe was a success. They were not too sweet which I worried a bit about. But I love oatmeal cookies so the oats in them reminded me of that. The peanut butter made them perfect. These were super easy to make and cooled really fast. Make sure you let them fully cool. If they do not fully cool when you store them in the fridge they get really gooey. Make sure to store them in the fridge for the best result if they are not all eaten in the same day. These are great for throwing in the diaper bag for a treat.

I always love making Sunday sweets that I had as a kid. It is so much fun sharing things with your kids that you enjoyed growing up. Even more they loved helping. Every Sunday the excitement and involvement in cooking is so much fun to see. Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the up coming week goes great!

Carlsbad Day Trip

Finding Fairy Doors

Most people go to Carlsbad, California to visit the beach but our Carlsbad day trip was different. We opted on not going to the beach due to Covid-19. Too many people and not many wearing the mask’s they should. We decided to go on a hunt for tiny fairy doors on a trail in Carlsbad. It was more fun than we thought.

We got there around 12 and there were very few people on the short trail. As we started walking my teenager spotted the first door. It was perfectly placed on a tree. This tiny little realistic door. It is the cutest tiny yellow door. There was a handle and tiny mushrooms painted on it. Next to the door was tinker bell. Around the door was green moss. You could see my little one’s imaginations running. The excitement was so adorable.

As we proceed down the trail we came on to another door. This was red and bigger. There was moss, glitter, and purple flowers around it. The detail on the tiny door was perfect. I truly have not seen my kids this excited in months. I should say we do not go many places lately due to this virus, so this was a treat. What was even better is my 16-year-old son said it was pretty fun. This is a huge win for me. In total we found 13 doors. All varying in sizes and absolutely perfect.

What was so cute is that these doors looked to have inspired other people. There were little birdhouse’s that someone had made on different trees. People had also painted and made their own doors in other places. The original doors we found are part of the Carlsbad Village Fairies. They started popping up in Lancashire, England and now they are in Carlsbad, California. If you would love to read more about how they have come about or buy a fairy door click the button below. They look like so much fun.

Ice Cream was needed

After this we decided to get some ice cream. Most ice cream placed were closed which was sad because we found one that looked so fun. But my trusty husband came to the rescue. He found Fugu Rolled Ice Cream and Taiyaki. We had the best rolled ice cream. We all got the rolled ice cream except Harper. Her ice cream came in a waffle fish filled with chocolate and her ice cream was ube/vanilla. It was so much fun finding a new place to try.

Finished with Mexican Food

To top off any southern California trip we had Mexican food. We had to get some. The smell as we walked by was amazing to say the least. If I have not said before I am newly a vegetarian which makes my Mexican food choices slim. But this place had a burrito for me. I got a falco lunch burrito and it was so freaking good. It makes my day when I can find a good vegetarian meal. They even offered a vegan option. Matthew and Geoff got CaliGuey (California burrito) and they loved it so much. I can’t forget  to mention their perfectly made salsa to finish off any Mexican meal.

We had the best day. We kept a social distance 90% of the time. It felt like a normal outing which is so needed. For me covid-19 is putting a strain on my mental health. My kids are also suffering. They miss their friends and just doing normal things. Today truly helped. Thank you to the Carlsbad Village Fairies to letting my kids and my teenager be kids again. Thank you to Fugu Ice Cream for being open when so many are not you saved the afternoon. Our Carlsbad day trip was amazing! Time to look for some other fun and safe San Diego adventures.

Summer Fun 2020

Summer is different this year.

The summer fun has been odd to say the least. Last summer we went on lots of fun trips. Now due to covid-19 and living in California all our plans were cancelled. It did not really bother me until this weekend. Memories from last summer and the ones before that start popping up make me wish this would all end soon.

Last summer was really a ton of fun. It was such a blessing to go on a trip with my oldest son. It was just the two of us. The trip was to Washington, D.C. to tour colleges with TAPS. For the first time in a long time Matthew and I got some much needed one on one time. I was very pregnant, but I felt great. This trip was the best trip for the both of us.

But on top of that fun trip we also had a weekend away in Los Angeles with the family. Even though it was a short trip and only a few hours away it was well needed. It also was with TAPS. For our family these get away’s with TAPS are truly needed. The trip is full of familiar face’s. It is so refreshing for the entire family.

If you have not read some of my other posts I should tell you what TAPS is. TAPS organization stands for Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. The organization is headed by Bonnie Carroll a military widow. They support all family members and friends who have lost someone in the Military. The person who died may have be active duty, reserves, or veteran. It is like a second family to many people including us. If you have lost a military loved one or if you just want to learn more ill attach a button below to their page.

So, this summer among the other fun things we do, losing out on going to these events has been a bit heart breaking. Even though they offered virtual event’s they just are not the same.

For me I am siding with caution and staying away from other people. So, we just are staying home. There is only so much you can do at home. There are way too many people at the beaches here in San Diego and basically everywhere. So many people are just going about their lives normal and I wish I could be so carefree, but this virus makes me nervous. So now with the summer half over I am looking for some creative ways to have some fun. I need to have some summer fun with my family.

 Summer Fun 2020 idea’s.

  1. Going to the beach at 7am: A mom in San Diego says if you go really early no one is there and just leave as too many show up.
  2. Putting our tent up on the patio: We are going to set the tent up with sleeping bags and pretend camp from our house. We will make popcorn and S’mores bites.
  3. Build a tower garden: This company in Tennessee called GreenStalk makes a garden tower that we are going to plant things in.
  4. Water play: We will buy a blow-up pool and water balloons. Eat watermelon, make sandwiches and eat popsicles all on our patio. Then we can all have some summer fun from our home.

Taking Summer fun suggestions.

These are the four things I have come up with so far. I really need to find some fun ideas for summer before it is over. What are your creative ideas for summer fun from home. I need help! Hope y’all have a great Summer.

S’mores Bites

Happy Sunday! As always every Sunday we post a blog about our family tradition, Sunday Sweet’s. Today’s choice was inspired by my son’s girlfriend. We chose to make S’mores Bites. Smore’s are so much fun to make but we live in an apartment now so the traditional ones cannot be made there. But with some creativity you can make them, just a different way.

Chalk board with white writing S'more Bites. White poowdered sugar bag, white marshmallow bag, brown and silver chocolate container and blue and yello graham cracker container.

As always I start here with the ingredients needed:

  • Graham crackers (9)
  • 6 tablespoons of butter
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • Hershey bars (2)
  • Big marshmallows (12)
  • Muffin tin pan

If you are new to the page our kids all help in making our Sunday sweets except the baby. She is just there for support.

These are pretty simple to make. First always start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating we let the kid’s smash the graham cracker’s in three separate Ziplock bags. Due to the kids being busy crushing graham crackers my oldest son and I broke the chocolate into the individual squares during this time. But you really just need one bigger Ziplock bag to crush the graham crackers in, but we just have multiple helpers. After they are all fully crushed you need to mix them with the butter and powdered sugar in a small bowl.

Now you have the base ready. Next, get your muffin tin and put one teaspoon of the mixture into in each muffin part, pressing it down. It actually turned out to be a little more over a teaspoon for us because we wanted more crust. The kids get to help with all of this. It was great because they could all participate. We sometimes have issues with taking turns but not today.  Next, Dad puts the tin in the oven until all the edges are golden. For our oven it took around 10 minutes.

Next we placed a piece of chocolate or two in each section. After that we added a whole large marshmallow to each section before putting it back into the oven. When the marshmallows were lightly brown on top they are ready.

Let cool for a minute and they are ready to eat. I honestly have more fun making normal smores, but we have to make things work. These S’mores Bites are perfect. If you are apartment living these are for you. They are really yummy, and I would make them again. You can also play around with the type of chocolate you use to make them your own. Have fun trying these out!

Must have baby items

So many Mom’s ask me what are my must have baby item’s. I have had four kids over the last seventeen years and definitely do have some favorites. One thing I learned after baby number two is there are too many baby products that are truly a waste of money. It makes it so hard to figure out what is needed and what is not needed. One item I tell every mom they do not need is a wipe warmer. Please do not waste your money on this. It is an overall consensus among the moms I know that this item is one of the biggest wastes of money.

I decided to share what my top 20 must have baby items is in hopes that it will help new Mom’s sort through the millions of baby items sold today. If you click on any picture it will connect you to (I do need to let you know as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases click the button if you would like to learn more.)

1.) Halo Bassinets Swivel Sleeper

This bassinet although a bit expensive is worth the cost. At night it gets very tiring getting up and down to wake with the baby. This bassinet sits right up to the bed. It protects the baby but with the parent’s weight you can push the side down to easily access the baby. It makes night feeding easier and checking on the baby much easier. The feet of the bassinet easily slide under the bed which allows it to sit right up next to the side of the mattress.

2.) Wonder Miracle Fluffy Swaddle

There are so many swaddle options, but I found my children really liked these ones. First off they are super soft which I always love. Second off they are so easy to put on the baby which is a must especially late at night. If you can quickly swaddle them back up they quickly are back to sleep. My worry was they would get to hot but this was not a problem in my home. You may want to watch if your home runs warmer. But I absolutely loved them as did my babies.

3.) Iniuniu Large Unisex Baby Backpack

Where do I start when it comes to diapers bags? I have gone through way too many. But this is the best one and it is built to last. I look for lots of zippers and pocket so the diaper bag can be organized which is a huge deal when you have multiple kids. It is also a backpack which to me is perfect. As a new parent you already have your hands full. Because of that you want a backpack as it makes things so much easier.

4.) Graco DuetSoothe Baby Swing

My kids loved swings as did I so I could get things done around the house. What is great about this is it is a swing/rocker combo. You can detach the rocker and carry it to another room. Not only did that help me when I wanted the baby right near me it also saved so much room. Baby items can take up a lot of space and this give you two great baby soothers in one. I can not express how much this was a life saver for me.

5.) Ergobaby Carrier Omni 360

If your baby likes to be held a lot which most do this can be a life saver once they hit the right size. You can wear this in the house and out. It can be used as the baby grows for a long time. You also can purchase the infant insert so when the babies are little they fit. It is a huge help for Moms so that they can get things done and the baby gets to feel the comfort and closeness they truly need.

6.) Nanobebe Breast milk Baby Bottles

Not all women breast fed and in my book fed is best. But in my case I do breastfed by babies and nipple confusion was a huge concern of mine. These bottles are great for all babies especially breastfed ones. They resemble a breast, are easy to clean and do not create nipple confusion. At least they did not in my case. I was really excited about this bottle and it met all my expectations.

7.) Boritar Baby Blanket

If you are looking for a good multi-purpose blanket that is not super costly you have found it here. As I said before I absolutely love a soft blanket and this one was my favorite. The blanket is my favorite, I carry it all year long and my babies love it. I use it to sit the baby on at the park, to block the sun and cuddle the baby. I like that as different material on each side.

8.) Shynerk Baby Car Mirror

For me, the driving with my baby was scary. I always worried if they were ok. I recommend a baby mirror. It gives you piece of mind while driving which is a must. Also, when the baby gets bigger they see themselves in it which is always entertaining. This one fit well in the car and was a great price point.

9.) Safety 1st Deluxe 25-Piece Baby Healthcare Grooming Kit

I always recommend this this to parents. I actually get a new one with every pregnancy. It gives you all the grooming items you need. On top of that it also gives you a thermometer and comes in a cute little zip bag to keep it all together. I love that all the items are good quality and will be needed with a baby. The only thing I do not use is the nose bulb because I love number 10 on my list better.

10.) NeilMed Nasabulb

So, for many moms you are given a little blue bulb in the hospital and those to me never seem to work. On top of the fact all the snot just gets sucked into it. These clear ones were a miracle to me. First off they suck out everything and you do not have to do it over and over. But second off the tip screws off so you clean it. I was so happy with that feature. It also helps that it is clear so you can see inside.

11.) UPPAbaby MESA Infant Car Seat

If you are looking for an amazing car seat this is the one. Now it is expensive. It may not be affordable for you but if it is get it. This car seat is very solid and protects the baby. It is easy to carry and the baby insert inside makes the baby amazingly comfortable as well as secure. On top of that it is the simplest car seat my husband has ever installed. This purchase was the best.

12.) UPPAbaby VISTA Stroller

If you get the car seat above you need the stroller. This stroller folds up and takes truly little room. The car seat snaps in super easy and comes out with the push button on the handle. It rides really smooth as well. It comes with a bassinet you can connect on which I find very convenient but then as they get bigger it has the normal infant seat to click in. These strollers also have added on options such as to add another seat and even a wooden stand board for older kids. This purchase is worth it 100x over.

13.) Medela Pump in Style Advanced with Tote

In the pumping world there are some new editions but in the 17-year span of being a parent this pump has been the best. It is easy to carry, easy to function and easy to clean. Medela is the best bump out there hands down.

14.) Organic Burp Cloths 5-pack

For a burp cloth I find the ones that are thicker are the best. These burp cloths are thick, absorbent and a cute design. But the shape is what makes them the best they stay and fit where they need to unlike the normal burp cloths out there.

15.) Baby Monitor with Remote Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera with LCD Infrared Night Vision

A baby monitor is a must if you have your baby in a crib and you are not there. I have always preferred the ones with the camera so you can see and hear your baby. It is important to have these two functions. What is even better is if they have good night vision. It gives you piece of mind. Many baby monitors are pretty costly but this one has a really good price point.

16.) Owlet Smart Sock 2 Baby Monitor

Along with a good monitor if you can afford the Owlet Smart Sock please get it. It gives parents a piece of mind. Most parents sleep lightly and check on their baby a ton worried that they are safe and breathing. This monitors you baby and alerts you if anything is wrong. It truly is a blessing!

17.) Shusher Portable White Noise Sound Machine

The key to getting most babies to sleep is white noise. If you ever notice people shushing their babies it creates white noise to soothe the baby. This is portable, you can bring it anywhere. You can hook it to the car seat and the diaper bag. It can be a life saver.

18.) Pampers Pure Protection Disposable Diapers

All my babies have been in Pampers from the moment they are born. My last baby has super sensitive skin. There diapers are the best. They fit her perfectly even as she has began crawling all over. Her skin is not affected at all by them. She does not get red or break out anymore. These diapers are amazing.

19.) Pampers Aqua Pure Sensitive Diaper Wipes

We use these along with the diapers above and the redness has stopped. With other wipes when we wiped her she would turn bright red but with these nothing. The Pampers Pure line is the way to go if you baby suffers from sensitive skin or if you just want the best for your baby in my opinion.

20.) Aquaphor

Do not forget to buy this. Buy the jar version. This is a miracle ointment. It can be used to heal diaper rashes quickly and gently. Any red or dry spots on a baby put this on it works quickly. If your baby has eczema try this as well. We use this on my baby’s eczema and on my older kids’ skin. I recommend this over most other lotions and over all diaper rash creams.

I hope some of my must have baby items help you out in the future with your new baby. They truly are my favorite baby items that I would not suggest if I did not personal love them.

Back to school

As with most parents this year has been crazy. From hearing about a virus, to our kid’s school shutting down and the continuing roller coaster of covid-19. There is no way to plan what is coming next. Furthermore, what is happening with the kids going back to school in the fall. There is so much confusion and way too many opinion’s out there.

For my family we are currently divided on what to do with this up coming year. It does not make things any easier that we have one child in high school for his senior year and the other one in first grade. This means we are dealing with 2 school districts. To top it off the school districts have different ideas on going back to school next month.

For myself I do not know who to believe about covid-19 and how sick it can or can not make you. Because I do not really know who to believe I do not want to take a chance sending my kids back to school at this time. Having a baby at home worries me due to her immune system not being fully developed yet. That is enough for me to keep them out of school and stay online only until we see a huge drop in this numbers for this virus.

They are missing out on socialization. My kid’s are truly missing their friends. School and sports were particularly important to our children as well as many other’s I know. I really pray every day that this virus goes away, and life become more normal.

e young male wearing yellow shirt and black pants with black cleats for baseball.

Our school’s have announced what their plans are for now. The high school will go one day a week and the 4 days online. The elementary school is going 5 days a week unless told otherwise. This can all change any minute. This was what happened with business’s just yesterday. It is just a complete mess.

A blonde woman with floral top and black pants wearing a pink mask talking to a young child talking about wanting to go back to school

For my husband it is pretty simple he thinks all kids should go back. On top of that he thinks that social distancing and masks are not necessary. I can not wrap my head around that type of thinking. There is something out there making people extremely ill. Although many kids are not getting sick their teachers could. I myself think every life matter’s and do not want to take the risk. My husband and I are going to need to come to some middle ground because each school offer’s full online schooling as a choice. That being said I want to make the best choice for my kids.

white male boy 6 years old in paper black and yellow kindergarten graduation hat, with white kindergarten diploma. He was not able to go back to school due to covid-19

I know I am not alone in this confusion. There are many parents out there that need their kids in school. They need to work. But on top of that some parent’s like my self do not feel their kids learn the best from us. Before all of this b I never wanted to home school, but I did it from March till the end of the school year. I just do not want to. My kids really love going to school. My teenager is in his senior year. If things do not start normalizing soon he is going to miss out on so much and it truly is not fair. What are all the other parent’s feeling? What is the right choice for your family? Please share as I love hearing other perspectives on this unique situation we are facing as parents this year.

 What I ask myself:

  1. Is it to big of a risk to go back now?
  2. Will they learn what they need to from me?
  3. How can me and my husband compromise?
  4. What sources can you are really trust?
  5. What will the consequences be socially and educationally by keeping my children home?
  6. Will one day a week verse all online be vastly different?
  7. Is this all a political stunt?
  8. How do I teach a young child to socially distance at school?
  9. Is it worth putting the teachers in jeopardy?
  10. How do I prepare my kids for another odd school year?

That being said I am still very confused. No one said parenting is easy. It is made much harder when our country and society is so mixed on what the next step is for school.

Cinnamon donut holes

Welcome back to our new family tradition of Sunday sweets! This week we are making Cinnamon donut holes. This is going to being a morning creation verse our typical dinner dessert. These are super easy to make. If you are new to my page let me just say now I have four kids. Three of them are 6 and under so easy recipes are key. Even more so it is important they are easy because the kid’s like to help.

Let us begin with what we need to make these. It is literally only four ingredients:

  • butter (6 tablespoons)
  • cinnamon (1 tablespoon)
  • sugar (1/2 cup)
  • Pillsbury Biscuits (1 container which is 8 biscuits)
cinnamon donut holes sign with biscut can blue and red. Butter containter blue and yellow \. Sugar cinnamon and pam

The best thing with having an easy recipe is my little helpers can easily feel like they are making the dessert. Since starting this new tradition every Friday, my 6-year-old asks what we are making. This definitely warms my heart!

So, let us get started, my husband will start preheating the oven to whatever the can says which in our case it is 350. While this is being done the kids get a pretty shallow dish and take turns spraying Pam in it, so we do not have sticking problems. At this point if you have little helper too either the adult will cut the biscuits into 4 parts or help the child. Since our children are 4, 6 and 16 we help the younger two and the oldest can do it on his own. Also, because we had enough biscuits to cut up everyone got to help and then everyone got to roll the cut-up pieces into balls.

Next my husband melted the butter in the microwave. In an additional bowl the kids mixed the sugar and cinnamon. Which may have been a bit of a mess but what is cooking without a mess. My husband dipped the dough balls in the butter just in case it was hot and then the real mess started. The kids and I dipped the balls in the sugar cinnamon mix and let just say little hands were covered.

After we did all the fun messy parts of the recipe we started lining them up one next to another in the dish and we cooked them for 15 minutes. Due to our oven seeming to cook things fast it only took 15 minutes. Just know it can take anywhere from 15-20 minutes so just watch them carefully. The smell of cinnamon is so nice, and it filled the house. We let them cool for about ten minutes and then ate them. They were so good and such a treat for breakfast!

I wish we had made more of the Cinnamon donut holes they were so good. But the kids loved helping and more so loved eating all of them. If you have a bigger family make more because they go fast. A friend told me to add some frosting. Although to me they were sweet enough and did not really need more so we opted out of that. If you try making these let me know how they turn out please! Happy Sunday everyone.

Loving my body after baby

This year I turn 37. In my 37 years I have had four beautiful babies. I also have had 3 miscarriages. Being pregnant 7 times is a lot on a woman’s body. I remember being 18 and a size 5. Well that size is long gone, and my body has completely changed. I struggle with my postpartum body. Coming from being this tiny little thing to 180 pounds is hard to swallow. But im loving my body after a baby, well after 4 babies.

In the world media is filled with women who bounce back to a size 0 a week after having a baby. They do not share all the images of what many women look like afterwards. Mostly because it does not fit the image media wants to show. This is so damaging to women. It took me a long time to realize how beautiful and amazing our bodies are. There is no reason why media should only show these “perfect” people. Because our bodies after birth are amazing.

I have always been hard on myself. Since the age of about 14 I was overly concerned with body image. After my first baby at 19 I had stretch marks and my boobs sagged from breast feeding. I did not feel better about myself till I lost a ton of weight and people started noticing. Why is it people only say you look good when you lose weight? From 2014-2019 I was pregnant 6 times and I went full term with 3 babies. Writing this now I see what a miracle my body is. But I still was ashamed. I felt fat. There were parts of my body that made me feel horrible about myself. The older I got the harder it was to get back my postpartum body.

But finally, about two weeks ago I looked in the mirror. Looking at my body I said to myself, my body has been through a lot and I look surprisingly good. I have birthed 4 healthy babies. On top of that I have breast fed those babies. My arms have carried each child, hugged them, and kept them safe. How can I not love what I see? I finally realized I needed to stop worrying about what our society burns into our heads and just love me. My weight is just a number it is more about how I feel health wise.

So everyday I look in the mirror and find something I love. My stretch marks are perfect and my “baby pooch” was earned. Yes, I may lose some weight down the line because I want to feel healthy, but I am not losing it to fit an image. I love my big breasts and even though some may think they look deflated they fed all of my babies. Those gave my kids so much nutrients and kept them healthy. My hips may be wider but there is nothing wrong with curves.

Today I am finally seeing me and loving me. Although it is not easy to not get wrapped up in negativity, it is do able. It is a work in progress. Self-love Is not always easy but it is worth it. So, to women out there being hard on themselves because they are not bouncing back the way Hollywood women do please love yourself. Please know your worth. Woman of all shapes and sizes need to see how amazing we are and not be so hard on ourselves.

Im loving my body after a baby by doing these things:

1.)           Once a day I look in the mirror and find something I love

2.)           When I put on clothes I do not say or think negative things

3.)           I look at my kids and say to myself you made them, and you are amazing

4.)           I am not setting body goals but just enjoying my baby

5.)           Do not look at women in Hollywood as examples of where you should be

Remember our bodies are perfect. There is only one of you. You are perfect in your own way. Postpartum bodies are strong, perfect, and gorgeous. Loving my body after a baby is such an amazing feeling. Sending love out to not only all the Mom’s but to everyone women. It is not easy being a woman in today’s society.

Being creative with Chalkola

Since about March our world has changed. My son Gavin was in kindergarten and doing sports. My daughter Harper who is 4, loved going to drop him off and pick him up. Even more, she had also made friends at his school. My teenager was living his life with dances, going to games, and being a junior in high school. To top it off I had a young baby at home. Then everything stopped. We had to find ways to fill the time. Being creative with Chalkola is one way we have filled that time.

Aside from now needing to home school the older two kids, I had a lot of time to fill. The new question was, what can we do at home now that things have shut down? I needed to get creative. We built forts, threw water balloons on our patio, played board games all day every day and much more. But after a month, things got boring. Furthermore, I have little kids with tons of energy and no understanding of why we could not go anywhere.

Well thank goodness for Pinterest. They have all these art’s and craft’s ideas. But you know what my kids loved the most? It was drawing on my white board. Who knew that a small white board on my wall could be a source of so much fun? I had bought it for work. Although I will do anything for my kids so if they wanted the white board it was theirs. I may not understand why they found so much fun in that, but it did not matter because they were occupied. They were also not fighting and were having fun together.

But the only color I had to write with was black. I was not about to go to a store searching for more colors. When I found Chalkola I was so excited. You can get a box of 30 colored chalk markers. What is even better is, they work on the white boards, chalk boards and so many other surfaces. We now have a chalk board and a white board for them to draw on. They have created so many fun drawings. They would even play made up games and tic-tac-toe. Even better, they could erase it and start over without needing to waste paper. But, a huge plus was they are not messy like regular chalk.

The next best thing is I could use them. Adults like to be creative too. I used the different colors to create a sign for my baby’s 9-month picture and a sign for my Sunday sweets recipe. These are seriously perfect. Chalkola makes chalk markers and they also have cute chalkboards for sale. They write so easily; you can create so many things and they do not make a mess. To top it off, they are not expensive. I am a person looking for a deal at every turn. These were inexpensive and so much fun for the entire family.

Being creative with Chalkola can be done using their chalk marker’s, dot marker’s or their watercolor brush pens. On top of that they also have acrylic paints and paint markers. I have not tried the acrylic products yet. Being creative with Chalkola chalk markers has been so much fun and we cant wait to try the other products out.
