Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies
We are back again with our Sunday sweets. Today I made something that did not need to be cooked. Our home is small, so we had already been using the oven for a Cheesy Potato Breakfast Casserole and the house was a bit too warm. For that reason, we made Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies and let just say they are delicious.
The ingredients needed.
As always I tell you what ingredients are needed first:
- One stick of butter
- Sugar (2 cups)
- Quick Oats (3 cups)
- Peanut butter (1 cup)
- Cocoa (1/4 cup)
- Milk (1/2 cup)
- Vanilla extract (2 tsp)
You will also need a saucepan, a large mixing bowl, spoon, measuring cups/spoons, cookie sheet, whisk, and some wax paper. If you have all of this then you are ready to go.
How to make them.
We always have our kids help they are 4 years old and up except with the stove part unless it is our teenager. So first off they pour the oats into the large mixing bowl. Then in the sauce pan we put in the butter and melt it. After we melted those we added the sugar, milk, and cocoa all on medium heat. This is then all to be whisked together and brought to a boil for one minute. My husband did the part above and I helped the kids get the peanut butter and vanilla extract measured out. As soon as the minute is up in the sauce pan these ingredients need to be added and everything needs to be mixed together in the saucepan.
Next we poured the saucepan mixture into the bowl of oats. My kids each took turns mixing that together till everything was fully mixed. Then the kids used a tablespoon to scoop the mixture out in separated spots onto the wax paper which covers the cookie sheet. When this was all done the worst part was waiting for them to cool. The whole house smelled like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. So, we ate our Cheesy Potato Breakfast Casserole while we waited. If you click the button below it will link you to the Casserole recipe which was amazing. Try adding Chorizo instead of sausage for a little kick.
Everyone finished their food and the cookies were ready. They did not disappoint at all. This Sunday sweets recipe was a success. They were not too sweet which I worried a bit about. But I love oatmeal cookies so the oats in them reminded me of that. The peanut butter made them perfect. These were super easy to make and cooled really fast. Make sure you let them fully cool. If they do not fully cool when you store them in the fridge they get really gooey. Make sure to store them in the fridge for the best result if they are not all eaten in the same day. These are great for throwing in the diaper bag for a treat.
I always love making Sunday sweets that I had as a kid. It is so much fun sharing things with your kids that you enjoyed growing up. Even more they loved helping. Every Sunday the excitement and involvement in cooking is so much fun to see. Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the up coming week goes great!
